Studio Kelani (Kay-lah-nee)

Welcome to Studio Kelani, Pilates and Polynesian Movements!

What does "Kelani" mean?

The word Kelani is the combination of 2 names - Keona (God's gracious gift) and Leilani (Heavenly flower). These are the names of two people who inspired the owner of Studio Kelani to open her business - her daughters.

About Studio Kelani

The owner of Studio Kelani is a direct descendant of the troup members of THE ROYAL POLYNESIAN REVUE, a world famous Polynesian group. She decided to follow in their footsteps adding a special contemporary flare to traditional dancing. Studio Kelani is a boutique fitness studio offering a variety of unique services including:

No fancy equipment, no heavy weights, no machines, no gadgets, no quick fixes and no magic pills. We have a firm belief that your body is your best piece of equipment and your mind is your best medicine. Through a combination of Pilates based exercises, Polynesian dancing, functional personal training, private Pilates training and an array of carefully selected music to inspire and move every part of you, we aim at providing you with an experience that is beneficial to your mind, body and spirit.

Our philosophy is health and happiness from the inside out. Esthetics are a bonus, not the goal. The Royal Polynesian Revue

Why Pilates & Polynesian Movements?

Common to Pilates and Polynesian dancing is their utilization of the ‘core’ muscles (these muscles are the main support of the body and are responsible for initiating movement). A lack of core development can result in the prevalence to injury. The basis of the fusion classes offered by Studio Kelani is – through combining these two disciplines- creating a physically and mentally fulfilling experience.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of exercise and movement developed by Joseph Pilates, which emphasizes the development of the body through core strength, flexibility and awareness and designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body

What is Polynesia?

Polynesia is the grouping of Pacific islands, in the central and southern Pacific Ocean, including Hawaii, Samoa, Easter Island, the Cook Islands, the Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia, Tonga, Tuvalu and New Zealand.
